Swimming is Fun
Swimming is Fun
I dived into a world of blue
While I swam I felt like I flew
Stroke after stroke
I ran out of breath I couldn’t bear
1,2,3 up for air
I reached the end of the pool
I climbed up the ladder to get fuel
So cold, I couldn’t feel my bones
Got my towel on now I am dry
The water was freezing cold
but It was fun I cannot lie.

WATER FUN Day 2020
Water Fun Day Recount
Glenbrae had Water Fun Day on Wednesday 12 February.
Water Fun Day is not just all about fun, it is also a competition
between four houses, the four houses are Nikau, Kauri, Rata
and Kowhai. Those houses have to fill up their buckets until
they are full and the most buckets are filled with water are the winners.
The day started with our chant. Rata went first with their chant,
next was Kowhai, then Nikau and lastly Kauri. I was in Nikau.
We had six entertaining stations. Water bomb, Water slide,
Spongebob, Pool fun, Lava flow and Holey Moly.
Room 7 first went to the pools for Pool fun. There we saw
Mrs Kelly and Miss Sangita. We all walked to the pool jumped into the pool.
We splashed, swam and lastly had fun. We
had toys to play with in the pool. Everybody swam and swam till we
got tired, but we can’t get tired yet because we had
to go to our next station.
Our next fun game was Water Bomb with Miss Smith and Miss Smith.
The aim of the game is to have a lot of water balloons inside your
teams bucket. The four teams went to line up to their cones.
One of your member
in your team have to pass the water balloons to you after you
passed back the
balloon go back to the back of the line, once your bucket had been filled and
your teams bucket had a lot of water balloons, you can pour that water into
the the large
bucket at the centre of the court. Afterwards we have to rotate to the next
station and that was the Lava flow with Miss Kyee.
Miss Kyee showed us how to play Lava Flow. The instructions were jump
inside the hula hoops the run to the court and fill our bucket. My team and
I were focused, as soon as the bell rang I filled the cup with water then I
dashed along the course while I was running I was beaming at the Nikau’s
bucket. It was splendid game.
Afterwards, the next game was Holey Moly with Mr Nath.
The cups had holes so you had to block the water from draining out the holes.
I beamed to the buckets at the centre and I see that Nikau’s bucket is at the
second bucket, excitement gave me hope that Nikau will finally win.
The bell rang and that means that its time for rotation. Room 7 next game is
Water Slide we had to line up and stroll up to the hill and grab a cup, fill it
with water and slide down to the court and put the water to their house bucket.
Everybody slip and slide down the hill.
Spongebob was our last game for Water Fun Day 2020.
This was my favourite game. The front person had to dip
the sponge and pass it back up and down when the last
person had the sponge, he or she have to run to their buckets
and give it a good squeeze.
Now the rotations are done and we had to sit back on the courts
and wait for Mrs Tofa to announce the winner for Water Fun Day 2020.
She started with the last place, it was so tense,
Kowhai for last place, third place is for Kauri, second place is Rata
and first place is NIKAU. Shouting with laughter. But we were humble winners.

Reflection Kiwican
Tuesday afternoon we had Kiwi can. Room 7 walked in silence to the Kiwican room there we saw Miss Grace and Mr Simanu. We sat in a circle next we started our energiser and our energiser was the Ice breaker. Miss Grace gave us cones. She told us to take one cone and pass it on, so we passed the cones around and put down the cone in front of us. Then the person with no cone has to stand in the middle and say something about his/her holiday. So one of my classmates had no cone so she had to say something about her holiday, if we can relate to that then we have to move to another cone but you can’t swap with the person next to you.
After we played the Ice breaker we turned around to the whiteboard, on the whiteboard we saw three words, it was Learn, Encourage and Share.
We had to think of one rule and decide where it goes, Miss Grace asked us if that rule goes to Learn, Encourage, Share then whoever got it right they get a point. My classmates were really happy they got one point.
Later that we played Defender. The rule of the game was to roll the ball through another persons legs, so we had to spread our legs apart and we had to only use one hand to push the ball away from getting in between your legs. We had so much fun playing Defender.
What I learnt in Kiwi can is if there were no rules it would not be fair. I also learnt that you always need to have fun and not be a sore loser.
